lithium ion batteries maintenance guide

Time:2026-04-17 Views:13

Scientific and standardized maintenance is the key to extending the service life of lithium-ion batteries and ensuring their safe and stable operation. Whether in household, industrial or consumer scenarios, reasonable maintenance measures can effectively slow down battery capacity attenuation, avoid potential safety hazards, and maximize the use value of batteries. The core of lithium-ion battery maintenance revolves around four dimensions: charging, storage, use, and cleaning. No complex operations are required. As long as simple and easy-to-understand maintenance principles are followed, the battery's endurance and cycle life can be significantly improved, replacement costs can be reduced, and it can adapt to the use needs of various lithium-ion batteries.

Maintenance during the charging process is the foundation and the most easily overlooked part. A dedicated battery charger should be used to avoid mixing chargers of different brands and specifications to prevent damage to the battery caused by overcharging and overcurrent; when charging, try to keep the ambient temperature between 10-35℃, and avoid charging in high or low temperature environments. High temperature easily accelerates battery aging, while low temperature reduces charging efficiency; at the same time, avoid leaving the battery fully charged (100%) for a long time, and do not wait until the power is completely exhausted before charging. It is recommended to maintain the power between 20% and 80%, which can not only protect the battery electrodes but also extend the cycle life. When not in use for a long time, it is necessary to supplement the power once a month to maintain the power at around 50%.

Maintenance during storage and use is equally important. When storing, choose a dry, ventilated and cool environment, avoid direct sunlight, high temperature and humidity or low temperature freezing, and control the temperature between -10℃ and 45℃ to prevent battery bulging and leakage; avoid severe collision, extrusion or puncture of the battery to prevent damage to the internal structure and cause safety accidents. When in use, avoid long-term high-load discharge, especially in high-power scenarios such as power tools and new energy equipment, to avoid excessive heating of the battery; if the battery is found to have abnormalities such as bulging, peculiar smell, or leakage, stop using it immediately and handle it properly, and do not continue charging or using it. In addition, regularly clean the positive and negative contacts of the battery to remove dust and stains, which can ensure good contact and avoid affecting battery performance due to poor contact. When cleaning, turn off the device power, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and do not rinse directly with water. Following the above maintenance points can effectively extend the service life of lithium-ion batteries and give full play to their performance advantages.
