Development of Fast Charging Technology for Power Banks

Time:2026-07-18 Views:191

The fast charging technology of power banks has experienced a rapid iterative upgrade process from low-speed constant-current charging to high-power adaptive fast charging, greatly improving the charging efficiency of portable power supplies and reshaping the user experience of mobile power consumption. In the initial stage, power banks only supported 5V/1A and 5V/2A conventional low-power charging, which could only meet the basic slow-charging needs of mobile phones, and it often took more than three hours to fully charge a single device. With the popularization of smart devices with large batteries, low-power charging technology can no longer meet user demands, forcing the continuous innovation and upgrading of power bank fast charging technology, and high-power fast charging has gradually become the mainstream standard of the industry.

The popularization of unified fast charging protocols and the innovation of semiconductor materials are the key driving forces for the development of power bank fast charging technology. In terms of protocols, the industry has evolved from single QC fast charging to multi-protocol compatible solutions covering PD, SCP, FCP and UFCS universal fast charging protocols, realizing universal fast charging for devices of different brands such as Apple, Huawei and Xiaomi. The emergence of the UFCS universal protocol further solves the problem of protocol incompatibility between different brands, making cross-device fast charging more convenient. In terms of hardware materials, gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor materials have been widely used in high-end power banks in recent years. Compared with traditional silicon-based materials, GaN has higher power conversion efficiency and lower heat generation, enabling power banks to achieve 65W, 100W and even 240W high-power output while maintaining a portable and compact size, breaking the volume-power limitation of traditional power banks.

Intelligent adaptive fast charging and bidirectional fast charging technology have become the latest development trends of the industry. The new-generation power bank fast charging system abandons the fixed gear charging mode of traditional products, and adopts AVS adaptive voltage regulation technology. It can monitor the battery status, charging temperature and power demand of the terminal device in real time, dynamically adjust the charging voltage and current, and realize low-temperature, high-efficiency and loss-reducing fast charging. At the same time, bidirectional fast charging technology is constantly optimized, which not only supports high-power fast output, but also realizes fast self-charging of the power bank itself, shortening the self-charging time of 20000mAh large-capacity power banks to less than one and a half hours. In addition, with the application of semi-solid battery cells and AI temperature control algorithms, the safety and stability of high-power fast charging have been further improved, effectively avoiding battery aging and safety risks caused by long-term high-current charging, promoting the fast charging technology of power banks to develop in the direction of high efficiency, safety and intelligence.
