Citycoco Battery How to Extend Cycle Life

Time:2026-09-07 Views:185

The cycle life of Citycoco lithium batteries directly determines the service life and long-term use cost of the scooter. The standard cycle life of high-quality original lithium batteries is 800 to 1200 charge-discharge cycles, which can be used for 3 to 5 years under standardized use. However, many users’ batteries age rapidly and fail in less than 2 years, mostly due to incorrect charging and usage habits. Mastering scientific maintenance methods can effectively extend the battery cycle life by 30% to 50% and delay capacity attenuation.

First, avoid over-discharge and shallow charge frequently, and adhere to scientific charge-discharge habits. The most harmful behavior to lithium batteries is over-discharge, that is, riding until the battery is completely dead and the vehicle automatically shuts down. Over-discharge will cause irreversible damage to the battery cells, resulting in rapid capacity attenuation. It is recommended to charge in time when the remaining power is 20% to 30%, and do not ride with low power for a long time. At the same time, avoid frequent shallow charging of charging for ten minutes and stopping. Frequent incomplete charge-discharge cycles will lead to inconsistent cell voltage inside the battery pack, affecting overall cycle stability. It is best to complete full charge and full discharge regularly (once a month) to calibrate battery power.

Second, standardize charging operations and match professional charging equipment. Must use the original charger matching the battery voltage and capacity. Mixing high-power or low-power chargers will cause abnormal charging current and voltage, damage BMS protection board and cells, and accelerate aging. Do not charge the battery for a long time overnight. After the charger indicator turns green, continue floating charge for 1 to 2 hours at most and then cut off the power. Long-term floating charge will cause battery overcharge, bulge and thermal runaway. In addition, avoid charging immediately after high-load riding. The battery temperature is high after continuous riding. Charging at high temperature will aggravate cell loss. It is necessary to park and cool down for 30 minutes before charging.

Third, pay attention to environmental storage and daily protection. Batteries are very sensitive to temperature. Long-term use and storage in high-temperature environments above 35°C or low-temperature environments below 0°C will seriously attenuate cycle life. In summer, avoid parking the scooter in the sun for a long time; in winter, try to charge and store the battery at room temperature. For scooters that are not used for a long time, do not store them with zero power or full power. Maintaining 50% to 70% residual power and charging once every 1 to 2 months can effectively avoid battery dormancy damage and capacity loss. At the same time, avoid battery vibration, extrusion and water immersion to prevent internal cell damage and short circuit.
