Citycoco Battery Drains Too Fast After 1 Year

Time:2026-10-23 Views:125

The full charging cycle of a Citycoco lithium-ion battery from completely empty to 100% charge varies significantly based on battery capacity, charger output current, and battery health status, especially for the mainstream 60V series batteries equipped on most Citycoco electric scooters. For the common 60V 20Ah standard battery paired with a original 2A factory charger, the total empty-to-full charging time ranges from 10 to 12 hours under normal room temperature conditions (20–25°C). For high-capacity 60V 50Ah Citycoco batteries, the charging cycle extends to 18 to 22 hours with a standard low-current charger, while a 5A fast charger can shorten the duration to 8 to 10 hours, greatly improving charging efficiency for daily commuting users. It is critical to note that lithium battery charging follows a two-stage mechanism: constant current fast charging and constant voltage trickle charging, which directly shapes the overall charging timeline.

The first charging stage accounts for the majority of battery recovery speed, filling the battery from 0% to 80% capacity efficiently within 6 to 7 hours for standard 60V batteries. During this constant current phase, the charger delivers stable current to the battery cells, rapidly replenishing power without excessive heat generation. In contrast, the final 20% of the charging process enters the constant voltage trickle stage, which takes nearly as long as the first 80% charging phase. This slow final charging process is an essential protective mechanism designed by the battery management system (BMS) to balance the voltage of individual cells, prevent overcharging of single cells, and eliminate potential safety hazards such as battery bulging or short circuits.
