Discharge cut-off voltage is a core parameter of Citycoco battery BMS protection system, which directly determines battery service life, cruising range and use safety. The cut-off voltage refers to the lowest voltage threshold when the battery stops discharging. When the battery voltage drops to this value during use, the BMS will automatically cut off the power output to prevent battery over-discharge. Different types and specifications of Citycoco batteries have different standard cut-off voltage settings, and unreasonable settings will lead to battery damage or insufficient range.
For mainstream Citycoco lithium batteries, the standard discharge cut-off voltage has clear industry specifications. The single-cell lithium battery cut-off voltage is 2.75V to 3.0V. Accordingly, the total cut-off voltage of 60V lithium battery pack (16 series cells) is set to 44V to 46V, and the 72V lithium battery pack (20 series cells) is set to 55V to 57V. Lead-acid batteries have higher cut-off voltage requirements: 60V lead-acid battery cut-off voltage is 52V, and 72V is 62V. Reasonable setting can avoid irreversible capacity loss caused by over-discharge and prevent battery bulging and internal short circuit.
Improper cut-off voltage settings will bring obvious usage problems. If the cut-off voltage is set too high, the battery will cut off power in advance with remaining power, resulting in shortened cruising range and wasted battery capacity. If set too low, the battery will be over-discharged, causing increased internal resistance, reduced cycle life, and even permanent damage to the cell. Users can adjust the cut-off voltage through the programmable BMS module according to usage scenarios. It is recommended to retain the factory default parameters for daily use; for long-distance riding, appropriately lower the cut-off voltage within the safe range to increase effective range, and restore the standard value after use to protect the battery.
