Citycoco Battery Charger Flashing Red and Green: Fault Causes & Complete Troubleshooting Guide

Time:2026-10-28 Views:171

The Citycoco battery charger flashing red and green alternately is a common fault prompt in daily use, which indicates that the charging system has abnormal connection, parameter mismatch or battery failure. Many riders do not understand the fault code meaning, blindly repeat plugging and charging, which will aggravate battery damage and even cause charging safety accidents. Mastering the fault causes and targeted troubleshooting methods can quickly solve the flashing problem and restore normal charging function.

The alternating red and green flashing of the Citycoco charger is a unified fault alarm signal defined by the factory, mainly corresponding to four types of abnormal problems. The first and most common reason is poor charging port contact. Loose battery charging port, oxidized metal shrapnel, dust and rainwater pollution will lead to unstable circuit connection between the charger and the battery, and the charger will continuously switch between power supply detection and charging state, resulting in alternate flashing of red and green lights. This situation often occurs after rainy riding, long-term use of the scooter, or frequent plugging and unplugging of the charging port.

The second main cause is battery internal failure and protection lock trigger. When the Citycoco battery has overdischarge, cell aging, internal short circuit, or BMS protection failure, the battery management system will automatically lock the charging circuit. At this time, the charger cannot detect the normal battery voltage signal, and the indicator light flashes alternately to alarm. Long-term idle storage leading to zero battery power, severe battery bulging, and aging batteries with more than 1200 cycles are prone to this fault. In addition, mismatched charger parameters will also trigger flashing faults. Using a 48V charger for a 60V battery or a charger with inconsistent current will cause voltage detection errors and light flashing alarms.

Graduated troubleshooting steps can efficiently solve the charger flashing problem. First, check and clean the charging port: unplug the power supply, wipe the battery charging port and charger plug with a dry clean cloth, remove dust and oxide, and plug in again for testing. Second, eliminate charger failure: replace a matched original charger for trial charging to judge whether the original charger is damaged. Third, check battery status: if the battery is severely overdischarged, use the low-voltage activation function of the professional charger to activate the battery; if the battery is bulging, aging, or internally short-circuited, stop using it and replace the battery in time.

Daily standardized maintenance can effectively avoid recurring charger flashing faults. Riders should use the original matched charger exclusively, avoid mixed use of different parameter chargers. Keep the charging port dry and clean at ordinary times, cover the waterproof plug in time after charging, and avoid dust and rainwater invasion. Do not let the battery be in zero-power overdischarge state for a long time, and charge the battery in time when the power is lower than 20%. Regularly check the aging degree of the charger and battery, replace aging accessories in time, and maintain the stable operation of the Citycoco charging system.
