The electric tricycle is one of the common tools for short-distance transport and daily commuting in urban and rural areas. The state of power storage components directly affects the actual performance of the vehicle and the riding experience of users. Many users pay attention to parameters such as capacity and voltage when choosing storage components, but easily overlook the operating state of the components during use. In fact, only by understanding the state of storage components at different stages can users better judge whether they are suitable and whether maintenance is needed.

The state of a storage component can be observed from several dimensions. The first is the state of charge, that is, the amount of remaining usable charge, which directly determines how far the vehicle can travel. The second is the state of health, which reflects the degree to which capacity is maintained after long-term use. The third is the state of operation, that is, the actual performance under working conditions such as high-current output, high and low temperatures, and frequent start-stop cycles. These states are interrelated and together determine the overall level of a storage system.

In the stage just after leaving the factory or just after installation, a storage component is usually in its initial state, with all performance indicators close to the rated values. At this stage, capacity is sufficient and discharge capability is strong, so the vehicle's power response and range performance are at a good level. However, the initial state does not mean the permanent state. As the number of uses increases, the various performance indicators of the storage component gradually change, which is what people commonly call performance degradation.

Performance degradation is an inevitable phenomenon during the use of storage components. After many charge-discharge cycles, the electrochemically active substances inside the cells gradually wear out, usable capacity slowly declines, and internal resistance increases somewhat. This change is usually gradual. If the degradation accelerates abnormally, for example capacity drops obviously within a short period, the cause needs to be checked promptly. It may result from long-term overcharging, overdischarging, or use in high-temperature environments.

Temperature has a particularly obvious influence on the state of storage components. In low-temperature environments, the activity of storage components declines, usable capacity decreases accordingly, and discharge capability weakens. The vehicle then shows weaker power and shorter range. In high-temperature environments, chemical reactions inside the components speed up, and long-term exposure to high temperature easily accelerates aging. Therefore, controlling the use temperature reasonably and avoiding prolonged work under extreme temperatures helps keep storage components in a good state.

The depth of charging and discharging also affects the state of storage components. Fully draining the charge before recharging over a long period, or storing the component fully charged for a long time, is not conducive to maintaining a good state. By comparison, shallow charging and shallow discharging, and keeping the charge within a moderate range, are more helpful for extending service life. At the same time, the charging current should be matched to the component specification. Excessively large current adds extra burden and, over time, speeds up aging.

The battery management system plays an important role in maintaining the state of storage components. This system monitors parameters such as charge, voltage and temperature in real time, dynamically adjusts the charging and discharging process, and protects the component in time when abnormalities occur, avoiding damage to the component from risks such as overcharging, overdischarging and overheating. Through reasonable management, storage components can operate under relatively stable conditions, slowing the process of performance degradation and maintaining a good state.

For users, judging the state of storage components should not rely only on feelings, but should also use some observable signals. For example, after a full charge, whether the vehicle range has shortened noticeably; during climbing or acceleration, whether power has weakened and whether there is an obvious sense of power loss; and whether charging time has become obviously longer. If these phenomena persist, they usually indicate that the state of the storage component has changed and further inspection or replacement should be considered.

In daily use, maintaining a good state also requires developing standard vehicle-use habits. Before each ride, users can briefly check whether the connections of the storage component are firm and whether the shell is intact. During riding, avoid extreme discharge for a long time and try to keep a certain charge margin. After parking, if the vehicle will not be used for a long time, keep the storage component at a moderate charge level and top up the charge periodically. These seemingly simple details all help storage components maintain a good state.

In the long run, a storage system that maintains a good state not only provides stable power support for the vehicle, but also reduces maintenance and replacement costs during use. State management is a continuous process. It requires users to have a basic understanding of storage components and to adjust maintenance methods in time according to actual use. Only by observing carefully and using standard practices can storage components stay in a good state for a long time.

Energy storage technology is still developing. Advances in material systems, management systems and manufacturing processes allow storage components to meet more use needs with more stable states. But no matter how technology is upgraded, reasonable use and maintenance by users remain an irreplaceable part. Mastering the basic methods of observing state, judging state and maintaining state can make travel by electric tricycle more reassuring and smoother, and allow storage components to play their proper role throughout their service life.
