Battery cell balance is a key maintenance work for Citycoco lithium battery packs, which can effectively solve the problems of inconsistent cell voltage, reduced capacity, shortened range and premature battery failure. Long-term use, repeated charging and discharging, and uneven internal resistance of individual cells will lead to voltage imbalance among series cells of the battery pack. Unbalanced cells will cause some cells to be overcharged or over-discharged, seriously affecting battery performance and safety. Regular cell balance can restore battery capacity and extend the overall service life of the battery pack.
Passive balance is the most mainstream and simple operation method suitable for daily user maintenance. Before balancing, fully charge the Citycoco battery and let it stand for 2 to 3 hours to stabilize the cell voltage. Then use a professional lithium battery balance charger or built-in BMS balance function to perform low-current supplementary charging for low-voltage cells. Passive balance consumes excess power of high-voltage cells through resistance to make all cell voltages consistent, with an equilibrium accuracy of about 0.01V. It is recommended to perform passive balance once every 2 to 3 months for daily used batteries.
For severely unbalanced battery packs with large voltage differences, active balance and professional detection and repair are required. Users can disassemble the battery pack, use a multimeter to measure the voltage of each single cell one by one, mark the cells with excessive voltage difference, and use an active balancer to perform precise supplementary charging and pressure relief. After balancing, charge and discharge the battery completely once to calibrate the battery data. In addition, avoid long-term low-battery parking, frequent over-discharge and fast charging, which can prevent cell imbalance from the source and maintain the long-term stable performance of the Citycoco battery pack.
