Pouch cells have emerged as the preferred core power source for modern high-performance electric motorcycles, replacing traditional cylindrical and prismatic cells due to their unique structural advantages and performance flexibility. Unlike rigid-shell battery cells, electric motorcycle pouch cells feature a lightweight laminated aluminum-plastic film packaging structure, which eliminates redundant metal casing and internal fixed accessories. This structural design greatly reduces the overall dead weight of the battery while maximizing the utilization of internal space, making it highly adaptable to the limited and irregular installation cavities of electric motorcycles. For 72V high-voltage battery systems tailored for electric motorcycles, pouch cells can be flexibly matched in series and parallel combinations according to vehicle power and range requirements, realizing customized capacity and size design without being restricted by fixed cell dimensions.

In terms of core performance, mainstream electric motorcycle pouch cells adopt high-energy-density NMC ternary lithium or high-safety LiFePO4 lithium iron phosphate chemistries, balancing power output, cycle life and riding safety. NMC pouch cells deliver superior high-rate discharge performance, which can instantly release large current to meet the acceleration and climbing power demand of high-speed electric motorcycles, while maintaining stable voltage output under high-load working conditions. LiFePO4 pouch cells, on the other hand, excel in thermal stability and cycle durability, with a cycle life of more than 3000 times, effectively reducing the long-term replacement cost of vehicle batteries. Both types of pouch cells have low self-discharge rates, ensuring that electric motorcycles can maintain sufficient power reserve after long-term parking and avoid frequent power loss problems.

Safety and adaptability optimization make pouch cells more suitable for complex motorcycle riding scenarios. The soft packaging structure of pouch cells can buffer the vibration and impact generated during vehicle driving, effectively resisting structural damage caused by bumpy roads compared with hard-shell cells. Meanwhile, advanced production processes enable these cells to resist slight swelling and deformation, and matched with a professional battery management system (BMS), they can realize real-time monitoring of cell temperature, voltage and current to prevent overcharging, over-discharging and thermal runaway. In addition, the ultra-thin and flexible shape of pouch cells allows designers to optimize the battery layout of electric motorcycles, reduce body center of gravity, and improve vehicle handling and riding stability, which is incomparable to traditional battery cells.
